For farms with a number of horses or small herds of goats, sheep, etc., we understand that it is important to have a large animal veterinarian with the flexibility and experience to perform a range of services to breeders, stables, and those who keep horses at their home. This flexibility is especially important and valuable to our large animal clients, as it also provides us with the opportunity to observe farm conditions and to help the owner and livestock perform at the top levels of production and performance.

It is our goal to always work in the best interest of your animals in a manner that ensures the best service to our clients.

Equine and Large Animal Vaccines

Ocoee Animal Hospital uses the most up-to-date Equine and Large Animal vaccines to protect your individual animal and herd health. We have found, and our medical experience dictates, that vaccinations play an important part in keeping your animal healthy and free from disease. Blue Ridge, Georgia is a wonderful place to live, farm, and raise animals. However, our community is not immune from a number of dangerous diseases that can be devastating to our animals. These diseases are also highly infectious by nature and can pose a very real risk to the health of individual animals as well as that of other animals living together.

There are a number of vaccines that have proven to be very effective at preventing many equine diseases. Our very experienced large animal veterinarians understand the nature and application of these vaccines and have developed an equine vaccination protocol designed to meet the needs of foals, adult horses, and horses in their senior years.

Core Equine Vaccines

  • West Nile Virus
  • Encephalomyelitis (EWE - Eastern and Western), commonly known as "sleeping sickness"
  • Tetanus (sometimes called "lockjaw")
  • Rabies

Many combination vaccinations are available. Please check with your veterinarians for the appropriate vaccinations that are the best and most cost-effective defense you can have against common infectious diseases. A program designed with the help and advice of our veterinarians will keep your animals – and you – happy and healthy for many years to come.
