Dr. Garry A. Day, Veterinarian/Managing Partner

Blue Ridge, GA veterinarian

Dr. Garry Day is one of our veterinarians, co-owners and also the managing partner who takes care of the business aspect of our practice. He joined the practice in June of 1981 after graduating from the University of Tennessee. He is a member of the American and Georgia Veterinary Medical Associations.

Dr. Day grew up and attended high school in Copperhill, Tennessee. From an early age he became interested in science and medicine and chose the veterinary field after raising Golden Retrievers as a lad. At UT he majored in Animal Science and then was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine even before completing his undergraduate degree. He then returned “home” to practice.

Some of his favorite and most satisfying things about being a veterinarian include “practicing good quality medicine and seeing positive outcomes as a result, establishing long term relationships with clients and their pets, and helping Ocoee Animal Hospital grow from its inception as a small animal hospital in an underserved area into one of the premier practices in the region”.

Dr. Day enjoys spending time with his wife and best friend Linda, and as much time as he can with his two grown daughters, Emily and Laura. He and Linda currently have two spoiled cats named Striper and Tennessee. When not at work you might find him hiking, backpacking, swimming, scuba diving, exercising, traveling, watching college sports, or reading.

Dr. Michael J. Zager, Veterinarian/Co-Owner

Blue Ridge, GA veterinarian

Dr. Michael J. Zager is one of our veterinarians and co-owners of Ocoee Animal Hospital. He’s been with us since 1979 and his professional interests include large animal medicine and surgery, including dentistry and reproduction. He’s a member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.

Dr. Zager received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. He also completed his pre-vet in food and animal science. He completed veterinary school at the University of Georgia of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 focusing on veterinary care.

When he was 14 years old, Dr. Zager worked in a veterinary hospital for the first time. He cleaned cages, walked dogs, maintained landscaping, and anything the doctor asked him to do. This same doctor also stressed the importance of hard work, dedication, compassion, and always striving to learn more, which helped Dr. Zager choose an education in veterinary care from a young age.

At home, Dr. Zager has one yellow Labrador retriever and one black and white cat that he takes care of alongside his wife, Cindy. Dr. Zager and Cindy enjoy hiking, traveling, and going to the theater. They have two grown daughters that they’re extremely proud of.

Dr. Philip Arnall, Veterinarian/Co-owner

Blue Ridge, GA veterinarian

Dr. Philip Arnall joined Ocoee Animal Hospital in June 1992. His professional interests include dentistry, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopedic surgery. He’s a member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association and thoroughly enjoys the problem solving of veterinary medicine by listening to and developing a relationship with our clients.

His love for animal care started back in 1981, when his mother told him to apply for a summer job in his hometown of Perry, Georgia. Instead of packing peaches like most high schoolers his age, he went to work for Dr. Smith at Smith Animal Hospital and worked there for four straight summers. His education includes his undergraduate in Agriculture from the University of Georgia in 1987 before attending the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated in 1990.

At home, Dr. Arnall spends quality time with his wife, Lydia, and their multiple pets – a Labrador Retriever mix named Fender, three cats named Rudy, Elsie, and Nadia, four hens, and one rooster lovingly named John Wayne. His hobbies include “do-it-yourself” home repairs, hiking, fishing, coin collecting, patch collecting, and vacationing with his wife and children.

Dr. Deanna Belyeu, Veterinarian

Blue Ridge, GA veterinarian

Dr. Belyeu is our associate veterinarian who joined the team in July 2000. Her education includes an undergraduate from Auburn University in Microbiology and Animal/Dairy Science in 1993 and 1995 before continuing to attend Auburn University for veterinary school, graduating Cum Laude in 2000. She’s a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.

“Being a veterinarian is a journey,” Dr. Belyeu says. “Through my journey, I have grown in knowledge, personal strength, compassion and a desire to serve. My journey has its challenges, along with happy and sad times. I continue to be amazed at the wonderful relationships and the many incredible experiences I have been blessed to be a part of during this journey.”

Dr. Belyeu thanks her father, a retired veterinarian, for her inspiration and influence into the veterinary world. Because of his dedication and passion, alongside her childhood experiences, she is now in a professional field she loves. She also volunteered at the Fayetteville and Lynchburg Animal Clinics as a teenager and worked with research dogs and in the Auburn Small Animal Pharmacy.

At home, Dr. Belyeu and her spouse, Shannon, care for their four children and five pets. Their children, Analea, Austin, Teagan, and Walker, “are incredible children. They each bring their unique personalities to our family and we rarely have a dull moment.” Their five pets include three dogs, Atticus (a Chihuahua), Cash (a Labrador mix), and Yeti (Maltese mix), a domestic short-haired cat named Kona, and a Flemish giant rabbit named Mo. Dr. Belyeu’s interests include spending time with her family and friends, watching college (SEC) football, traveling, working in the yard, and visiting wineries and microbreweries.
