Garry A. Day, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Garry Day is our senior veterinarian. As chief of staff he takes care of the management aspect of our practice in addition to seeing patients on a daily basis. He joined the practice in June of 1981 after graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of both the American and the Georgia Veterinary Medical Associations.
Dr. Day grew up and attended high school in Copperhill, Tennessee. From an early age he became interested in science and medicine and chose the veterinary field after raising Golden Retrievers as a lad. At UT he majored in Animal Science and was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine even before completing his undergraduate degree. He graduated with his DVM degree on a Friday and started work back here “at home” the next Monday.
Some of his favorite and most satisfying things about being a veterinarian include “practicing good quality medicine and seeing positive outcomes as a result, establishing long term relationships with clients and their pets, and helping Ocoee Animal Hospital grow from its inception as a small animal hospital in an underserved area into one of the premier practices in the region.”
Dr. Day enjoys spending time with his wife and best friend Linda, and as much time as he can with his two grown daughters, Emily and Laura. He and Linda currently have two spoiled cats, Striper and Tennessee. When not at work you might find him hiking, backpacking, swimming, scuba diving, exercising, working in the yard, traveling, watching college sports or reading. He also enjoys church activities and singing in the choir.
