Michele Farrar, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Michele Farrar is a native of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science, minoring in Biology. After working for a number of years as a veterinary technician she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian and returned to school at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2009 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

She and her husband, Dan, moved to Florida in 2009 so she could pursue her desire to provide quality medicine as a mixed animal practitioner. She worked with both large and small animals ranging from
huge draft horses to tiny hamsters. Missing the mountains, they have decided to move back north to beautiful northern Georgia.

The Farrars have two pugs, Auggie and Lilo, and a cheeky chiweenie, Essie Bea. They also own Truman, a northern blue–tongued skink and two awesome paint horses, Sparky and Sam. Dr. Farrar’s experiences in veterinary medicine have covered a variety of species. Her more memorable cases have included the bull terrier who ate a nebulizer and a pair of jeans, the horse with a 10 inch gaping chest wound, the pig who ate a peach pit and required a 4½ hour surgery to remove the blockage, neurologic goats, the iguana who needed a leg amputation, the sugar glider who was neutered, the snake with a cold, the parrot who was egg bound, the cat with a fishing lure caught in her upper lip, and x-raying a dolphin.

Dr. Farrar’s hobbies include creating artwork (pen and ink, acrylic paint, and colored pencil), sculpting with polymer clay, horseback riding, biking, reading and baking. She and her husband are also avid Virginia Tech Hokie fans.
